Lummis Day 2019

Lummis Day is a multi-site festival with music, dance, and poetry representing a wide range of cultures. The festival celebrates the arts, history, and ethnic diversity of northeast Los Angeles.

On Friday, Occidental College hosts a free screening of the documentary feature “Con Safos: Reflections of Life in the Barrio” at 7pm.

On Saturday, families can visit the Southwest Museum and York Park for performances, demos, and exhibits. (Southwest Museum is open Sunday as well.)

On Sunday, Lummis Home offers poetry readings, and Sycamore Grove Park features 5 stages with continuous entertainment, including the kid-friendly Teatro Arroyo /Bugs & Puppets stage. A family fun area offers crafts, workshops and more.  Elsewhere in the park can be found a blacksmith demonstration and Independent Shakespeare Company Los Angeles.

The event website has the complete schedule of festival activities.
