Junior Scientist

3/9/2019

Kid

Hey 6 to 9 year olds, It’s Time to Become a Junior Scientist!

Join us each month to experience NHM as a scientist does! Feel what it’s like to do real scientific work by using the same tools and techniques as our own museum researchers. Packed with activities, demonstrations, and an up-close look at some cool (and sometimes creepy crawly) highlights from our collection, each month is a crash course in one of the many fields of science explored at the museum.

Free with paid museum admission. Events are available on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations required, but tickets are very limited, so arrive early!

UPCOMING at NHM:

Saturday, March 9, 2019 10:30 am and 1:30 pm

Exploring Marine Mammals
Join us for our final Junior Scientist program of the season as we dive deep into our oceans. In this session, we will discover the world of marine mammals and how they live in aquatic environments. Through experiments and exploration, we will learn how these animals have adapted to sense their watery worlds.

PAST at the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum:

Saturday, February 16, 2019  10:30 am and 1:30 pm

Exploring Fossils

Join us for another Junior Scientist as we explore the work of a fossil researcher. Discover the stories hidden within the sticky asphalt traps of La Brea Tar Pits. We’ll learn how studying fossils helps us to step back in time, recreate environments of the past, and understand the lives of prehistoric animals.
