AMILY JAM: CELEBRATING CARNAVAL
Family Program
1:00 — 4:00PM
February 11

Join us for a celebration of Bahia’s Carnaval: a Brazilian springtime celebration famous for gorgeous parades, music, and costumes!

1pm: Prepare for this colorful festival with face painting, jewelry making, and mask decorating.

2pm: Enjoy an Afro-Brazilian samba-reggae performance by Batalá Los Angeles, and partake in a mini “Trenzinho” or “train”—a line dance led by educators from Brazilian Play and Learn.

3:30pm: Relax and unwind with a guided story time in our Axé Bahia exhibition, where we will take a magical journey to Brazil in 1, 2, 3 Suddenly in Brazil: The Ribbons of Bonfim, written by Cristina Falcón Maldonado and Marta Fábrega. Following the story, make three wishes (just like in the story) with a Bonfim ribbon bracelet activity.

The Fowler Museum is proud to present this program with support from Brazilian Play and Learn. Materials are provided. No RSVP required.
