Stronger Carnival

9/23/2017

Free - $20
Thorman Elementary School student David Guillen, 6, takes a bite of cotton candy during Currie Middle School and Thorman Elementary's “Stronger Together-Stronger than Ever” event.

Welcome to the Event Page for the “Stronger” Carnival to benefit The Heather Abbott Foundation.

The Heather Abbott Foundation was brought to my attention because of the upcoming film “Stronger” starring Jake Gyllenhaal as Jeff Bauman.  Jeff lost his legs in the Boston Marathon bombings and his inspirational story made me want to do something.  I reached out to him, but since he doesn’t have his own foundation, he pointed me in Heather’s direction.  She also lost part of her leg in the bombings and because of this she set up her foundation.  They help provide customized prostheses to those who have suffered limb loss through traumatic circumstances.

Please join us on Saturday September 23, 2017 from 3-5:30 pm for an afternoon of music, games, food, and prizes at Woodley Park in Van Nuys, CA by purchasing a ticket.  Children under 12 are free. All attendees will receive a gift bag which will include a movie poster and copy of the book “Stronger.”  If you are out of the area but still wish to donate, please feel free to do so.  There will be limited seating, so bring your favorite blanket or chair.  If you are attending, please feel free to bring any glasses, jewelry, and watches to be donated to New Eyes For The Needy, an organization Jake Gyllenhaal has worked with.
