Asian Pacific American Festival Launches in May at San Gabriel Mission Playhouse


San Gabriel Mission Playhouse will host Asian Pacific American Festival, a three-week long event for the community. The festival includes over 28 different workshops, movie screenings, concerts and theater performances from some of Hollywood’s finest talents.

Mother’s Day weekend, May 13, will feature a family-friendly event with a special performance by award-winning composer, Nathan Wang and local children. Wang will perform “Rising Above,” an original song debuted at the 2018 Tournament of Roses Parade.

APAFEST is delighted to present Grammy and Emmy award-winning composer and arranger Nathan Wang and a group super-talented to musicians to the beautiful Playhouse stage for concert that will feature a range of music from jazz to classical and some of  Nathan’s from some major movies and TV shows. The musicians will be joined for some of the concert by members of the Perfect Harmony Cultural Exchange Association to present some Cantonese Opera. Join us for this musical celebration!

Join us for a lively discussion with panel of film, TV and media professionals as we examine some key questions such as “What successes have we had as Asian Pacific Americans in the TV and film industry?” “What are the challenges still facing us today?” “What should our next moves be?” 

All events are FREE although you may be asked to pay a small convenience fee when booking online. All events take place in and around the Mission Playhouse.
