Annual Young Artist Project
Selected from hundreds of applicants, a cast of young artists have just 14 days to create an original, riveting cross-disciplinary performance to put onstage at La Mirada theater for the Performing Arts. El Segundo Rotary Club hosts a Movie in the Park. The 2018 film is Mary Poppins. The fun includes food, drinks, games, train rides, bounce houses, face painting, entertainment and more. Guests are encouraged to dress in Moana-themed costumes. All funds raised through this event go back into the community through the good works of the Rotary Club.

Shakespeare by the Sea returns to Los Encinos State Historic Park. This year's performance is The Merry Wives of Windsor – a rollicking comedy which tells of Falstaff’s folly: courting two very mischievous married women at the same time. Families can bring picnics, blankets, and beach chairs to enjoy an evening of classic entertainment. The event is free. Donations are welcome.

Families can connect with art and nature at the UCLA Franklin D. Murphy Sculpture Garden. Participants discover relationships between nature, art, and the creative process as dance educator Lindsay Lindberg guides guides families through movement activities. Participants can bring a picnic blanket and enjoy free popsicles before or after the program. Sessions at 11am and 12 noon. The Sculpture Garden is located just off Charles E. Young Drive on the northeast corner of UCLA’s campus.
