Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer

On Saturday, June 4th, I attended the premiere of the new summer movie, Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer. Along with the other 2 Junior Journalists, I learned to how to use a microphone and speak to a camera and then I was given the opportunity to interview lots of the actors in the cast, crew members and other young stars. We had a blast!!!
I think I had my own “Thrilladellic” moment as I saw some major TV and movie stars start to walk down the “green”carpet! One of the first people we interviewed was Camryn. Camryn sang all of the songs for the movie. She has just come off a big tour! Next, I got to speak to Parris Mosteller. He played “Stink” in the movie. Parris didn’t have a second thought when I asked him if he thought the movie would be a hit. He said that it would be a HUGE HIT! We also interviewed, Jackson Odell, who plays “Zeke” in the movie.
When asked if he believed if Big Foot really existed, he said Yes! He grew up in Colorado and used to look for Big Foot when he was little. One of the funniest people that walked the “green” carpet was Sharon Sachs. She plays a Big Foot hunter, too. It was such a super thrill to interview Heather Graham. She was so nice and so beautiful. She told me that she loves kids and she was so excited to make her first kid’s movie. Jordana Beatty looked so pretty. She had on a beautiful pink dress that looked fabulous with her amazing red hair. She, too, thought the movie was going to be a big hit and she was excited to be the face of Judy Moody.
The movie was so funny! It had a great combination of laughs and adventure. I think people of all ages will love this movie. Jordana did a fantastic job with this film. She was funny and your really felt like she was the character, Judy Moody. Heather Graham was the aunt everyone adored. I would love to have a summer adventure with her.
With this said, I feel that my experience as a Junior Journalist was one of the best things I have ever done. I interviewed stars, walked on a “green carpet” and attended a premiere. People only dream of doing these things! I feel so lucky to have been chosen by LaJaJa Kids to represent them.

This summer, Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer will be premiering at theaters all over the county. It will star Jordana Beatty as Judy and Paris Mosteller as Stink. It is about a fun loving aunt, played by Heather Graham, Judy and Stink and how to make the best of things when they don’t always turn out as they should. It is based on the hilarious book series written by Megan McDonald. On May 1, 2001, I was lucky enough to be able to interview Jordana, Parris and Megan.

Megan McDonald was so nice and she answered all my questions. I asked her what her favorite Judy Moody book was and she said that she loved writing, Judy Moody Goes to College, because she had so much fun thinking about what a third grader would do in college!

When Parris was asked, “ What was the funniest thing that happened on the set of the movie?” he had two answers. One was when Big Foot’s head fell of and there was a cat stuck on the top and the other was when we were doing the raccoon scene and we all fell down.

Jordana, who is from Sydney, Australia, and has wonderful red hair, was asked how she spoke with an American accent. She said that it was really hard to stop speaking like an Australian but that she hired a voice coach and he really helped her. Also, Jordana said that she knew this movie had changed her life when her friends starting looking her up on the Internet!

Jordana and Parris had to attend school during the day as well as shoot the movie. Filming Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer must have been a challenge and a lot of hard work. But, it will all be worth it when the movie premiers this June.

Jordana, Parris and Megan were so nice! We had so much fun doing the interview. By the end of it, I felt like they were friends of mine. With those words said, I cannot wait to see the upcoming movie, Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer!
