Few things spark a child's imagination like a good book and that's why PBS SoCal is looking for your child's original stories!

PBS SoCal encourages Southern California children to create an original story as part of the PBS KIDS Writers Contest. This year, we are locally offering the Writers Contest to K-6th grade students!

Entry Date: January 12, 2015

Closing Date: March 16, 2015

LOCAL CONTEST GUIDELINES:

· The contest is open to kids in grades K-3 and 4-6.

· Each entry must be an original work written and illustrated by the student.

· Stories can be fact or fiction, prose or poetry and each grade level will be judged separately.

The Writer’s Contest encourages, challenges and rewards effort. Every child who submits a story will receive a Certificate of Appreciation from PBS SoCal. First, second, and third place winners will be chosen from each grade level to receive prizes locally, and first place winners from K-3rd grade are entered into the national contest. PBS SoCal wants your creative, original ideas so we hope to see your story!

**Please note that the Writer’s Contest open to 4th-6th graders is a local contest only and will not be eligible for the national contest
