It is so easy to make your own homemade version of ice pack, there is no need to spend money to buy one any more!

Recipe:

  • Plastic Freezer bags (up to 1 gallon size)
  • Water
  • Rubbing Alcohol

Directions:

  • Add water and alcohol to a freezer bag in a ratio of 3:1  (3 parts water to 1 part rubbing alcohol)
  • Add more alcohol if you want a slushier cold pack.
  • Cold packs can be stored in the freezer up to one month.
  • Use double baggies for leakage control.
  • The cold pack will conform to any body area because the rubbing alcohol prevents the water from completely freezing.
  • ask your kid to decorate it with a sharpie pen or lots of stickers
  • make sure the skin is covered with a towel prior to application.
  • An unopened frozen bag of peas, corn, or blueberries is another fast way to apply a cold pack to an injured area.
