Ireland 愛爾蘭

Ireland is, of course, where it all began. St. Patrick’s Day started as a holy day in Ireland and continues to be a day of respect and meditation among religious households. Family is an important aspect of the celebration. Many people gather for warm, family meals before joining festivals and parades. In America, the most traditional Irish dish to partake on St. Patrick's Day are corned beef and cabbage, but in Ireland, bacon and roast chicken are acutally more commonly found on Irish dining tables.

Italy 義大利

In Florence, Italians celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with “Festa Irlandese,” a 10-day celebration of music and food. People gather from all around to feast on Irish dishes like potato soup and smoked salmon.

Argentina 阿根廷

Argentina has the fifth largest in the world outside Ireland.  In Buenos Aires, all-night parties are celebrated in designated streets, since the weather is comfortably warm in March. 50,000 people dance and drink only beer throughout the night, until seven or eight in the morning, and many people wear something green.

New Zealand and Australia 澳洲及新西蘭

Large numbers of Irish people emigrated to Australia during the 19th century, and nowadays the Irish made a large impact on the social, political and education systems, of both countries.  Saint Patrick's Day is seen as a day to celebrate individual links to Ireland and Irish heritage.   Green items of clothing are traditionally worn and the streets are often filled with revellers drinking and making merry from early afternoon until late at night.

Denmark 丹麥

The Danish bring the luck of the Irish to worthwhile charity! Every year, since 2001, a St. Patrick’s Day 3-Legged Charity Races takes place in Copenhagen, raising money for children’s health and education. This is a tradition that we all should follow!

Germany 德國

Munich has a fairly large Irish community, that's why the city holds one of the largest St. Patrick’s Day parades in all of Europe! The celebration includes a march and an outdoor party featuring dancers and live music.

The West Indies 西印度群島

Because of its cultural heritage and connection with the United Kingdom, St. Patrick’s Day is a national holiday on this beautiful Carribean island. In fact, Montserrat was founded by former Irish refugees from Saint Kitts and Nevis, and now it is called the “Emerald Island of the Caribbean.” Its landscape is reminiscent of coastal Ireland and many of its people have ancestors from Ireland.
