DESCRIPTION:The other returning grand marshals will be: the McGrath family\, who led the 1997 parade honoring all descendants of Ventura County Irish pioneers; the Elks Lodge No. 1430\, which sponsors the parade each year (2004); the E.J. Harrison & Sons family\, who in 2007 honored trash/recycling company matriarch Myra Harrison and\, appropriately\, the theme “Go Green”; the Women of Jewelia\, a philanthropic group formed around a shared diamond necklace (2009); Richard Rush\, former president of California State University\, Channel Islands\, and a community activist (2014); 150 years of Ventura descendent families\, which when they led the parade in 2016 included the Foster\, Olivas\, Harrison and Moraga clans; Mary Osborne\, Ventura’s own world-famous surfing champion (2017); and local first responders\, honored last year for their heroic work during the Thomas Fire of December 2017.
