SUMMARY:Getty Center Family Festival
DESCRIPTION:10 am - 6 pm\nDon't miss this special Getty Family Festival Celebrating Eyewitness Views: Making History in Eighteenth-Century Europe and The Lure of Italy: Artists' Views\n\n\nEnjoy a day of celebration and discovery for the whole family inspired by magnificent historical scenes on view in the exhibition Eyewitness Views: Making History in Eighteenth-Century Europe\, featuring performances\, storytelling\, and art-making workshops.\n\nMAIN STAGE\n\nLA Opera\n\n11:00–11:50 a.m. & 2:30–3:20 p.m.\n\nThe artists of the LA Opera perform some of opera's greatest hits from the 18th century. These performances capture the epic dramas of Europe's lavish royalty and the grand spectacle of historic rituals\, regattas\, and festivals.\n\nClarita and Arte Flamenco Dance Theatre\n12:30–1:30 p.m. & 4:15–5:15 p.m.\n\nArte Flamenco Dance Theatre performs rare and historical Spanish dances\, vividly restoring this rich history of dance. Clarita\, a world-renown dancer\, teacher and choreographer with an extensive background in all facets of Spanish regional\, classical and Flamenco dance\, founded the Arte Flamenco Dance Theatre\, a company and dance school based in Alhambra.\n\nWORKSHOPS\n10:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.\n\nAccessori Italia with Crafternoon LA\n\nCreate one-of-a-kind sashes\, medallions\, collars\, gauntlets\, and frippery inspired by King Charles III and other noblemen depicted in the paintings on view in the exhibition Eyewitness Views. Style yourself into the 18th century!\n\nCarnival Masks\n\nChoose the black domino or white Venetian masks\, or perhaps Pulcinella\, the "little chicken" from Napoli\, and create your own unique disguise.\n\nPaint the Scene! Plein Air Painting with Rosanne Kleinerman\n\nArtists have always captured history by painting everyday life and special events. Take in the exhibition Eyewitness Views: Making History in Eighteenth-Century Europe\, then make your own history and paint what's happening at the Getty using a variety of art materials.\n\nLECTURE HALL\n\nNoon–12:45 p.m. and 3:30–4:15 p.m.\n\nMaking the Scene with David Prather\n\nJoin David Prather\, dubbed "The Maker of Merry" by the Los Angeles Times\, in an interactive blend of history and performance\, as he collaborates with audience members to recreate famous scenes from classic European paintings. Prather uses his signature blend of improvisation\, verbal wit\, and physical comedy\, along with audience participation\, to bring European paintings to life. Think of it as an 18th-century mannequin challenge!\n\nPHOTO BOOTH \n\n10:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.\n\nClimb into our (almost) life-sized gondola created by artist extraordinaire Kiel Johnson and have your photo taken "floating" in the Venice canal by Snap Yourself.\n\n  \n\n  \n\n
