DESCRIPTION:\n\n在今日分秒必爭的社會，良好而得體的社交禮儀可讓人留下好印象。您有為孩子們因抗拒交際、內斂、不拘小節，以及坐姿走姿不標準而煩惱嗎? 讓孩子參加 cotillion兒童禮儀課程，與同齡小朋友一起練習禮儀的實踐，是最有效的學習過程。\n\n丫丫園地一年一度的 Harmony Cotillion從 2010年開始陪伴著小朋友茁壯成長。第五屆課程將於5月1日起，接受8－13歲兒童報名，額滿截止。Cotillion 源自18世紀歐洲宮廷的優良傳統，多年來一直是美國富裕家庭的教育重點，所以大多數 cotillions 都開設在私人俱樂部和私立學校。不少華裔子弟雖然在課業成績上優異拔群，可是缺乏在社交和人際能力方面訓練。\n\nHarmony Cotillion (少年兒童社交舞會及禮儀學習) 是由丫丫園地與中西禮儀學會聯手舉辦的公開課程，由資深禮儀專家 Ken Shiry 出任主席導師，著名儀態導師 Frances Welter  擔任客籍導師。Mr. Shiry 擁有超過25年教學經驗，任教於多個私人俱樂部和私立學校的兒童禮儀教學課程。\n\n課程分五個星期舉行，教授 Fox Trot、Waltz、Swing等基本舞步，並以深入淺出的手法講解各種生活及社交禮儀知識，幫助不同年齡的孩子融會貫通，最後一課更將於正式西餐廳舉行，讓學生在正規場合親自將學到的理論知識實踐出來。\n\n\n\n課程範圍包括會面及自我介紹、餐桌禮儀、風度及氣質、坐姿及步姿、電話及網路禮儀、出席朋輩宴會須知等，通過朋輩間的互動、正面的鼓勵，將禮儀知識潛移默化，從而培養優雅氣質，建立自信，每課更舉行有趣的遊戲，讓小朋友在輕鬆愉快的氣氛下練習，並認識新朋友。所有課程以英語授課，學生須遵守服飾指引，以示隆重。\n\n第五屆 Harmony Cotillion 課程將於5月1日在Arcadia市 Baldwin Stocker Elementary School 開課，課程收費245元。\n\n查詢資料及下載報名表，可登入 www.harmonycotillion.org 或電洽323-728-7200。\n\n[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPdsFNDRRE8[/embed]\n\n兒童常見禮貌問題和應對辦法\n孩子有些行為常被長輩認定為不禮貌，例如看到人不打招呼、旁人講話時插嘴、跟人說話總是眼神飄忽不看對方、用餐時經常吵鬧等。以下內容整理了兒童五大常見且又令家長覺得不禮貌的行為，以及如何改正。\n\n一、遇見人不主動打招呼\n\n1、找出行為原因\n\n需要了解孩子「不打招呼」的對象以及情境。有可能是因為孩子沒注意而忽略，或是普遍性的習慣，還是孩子出現此狀況是針對特定的場合或人物。\n\n2、自我保護反應\n\n孩子對於陌生人通常第一反應是退縮或警戒，這是孩子們自我保護的反應，大人們可以先從介紹對方來讓孩子來了解和熟悉，然後再以引導的方式，讓孩子學習問好。\n\n3、避免詢問責備\n\n避免一開始就詢問孩子「為什麼不叫人？」，或者是責備孩子「沒禮貌」等，這都會讓孩子更加退縮，甚至造成孩子心裡的陰影。\n\n二、講話總是不直視對方\n\n1、孩子怯懦遮掩\n\n大多數的孩子在面對比他們高大的成人面前會顯得畏縮，尤其是對方還是他不熟悉的對象時，就會出現孩子遮遮掩掩、怯懦的不敢直視他人的狀況發生。\n\n2、強化孩子動作\n\n如果孩子天生的個性較為害羞、敏感，則要對孩子做強化動作，讓孩子知道看著對方，人家才知道你在對他說話，當孩子試著看著對方時，也要讓孩子知道他做的很好。\n\n三、撥接電話不禮貌行為\n\n1、難以適當回應\n\n電話對於幼兒來說是非常新奇的玩意，因此當電話響起時，他們總是會搶著接電話。當小孩一把抓起電話時，因為看不到對方，小孩通常難以作出適當回應。\n\n2、電話禮儀應對\n\n電話的應對和禮儀是需要教導和學習的。平常可以透過小遊戲來教導孩子基本的電話禮儀和用語。孩子剛開始在學習的階段難免會做的不好，千萬不可以急於糾正孩子。\n\n四、孩子用餐禮儀行為差\n\n1、孩子好奇好動\n\n年紀尚小的小孩因為活動力強，好奇心旺盛，因此沒辦法好好坐在餐椅上乖乖用餐，而當孩子無聊時，他們總會藉由玩玩刀叉、碗盤來娛樂自己，甚至放聲大哭吸引她人注意力。\n\n2、轉移注意焦點\n\n在外用餐時，許多小孩總是耐不住性子，因此家長可以適度的轉移孩子的焦點，例如：讓孩子數一數在座的人數，或是讓小孩說說賓客衣著的顏色。\n\n五、孩子總是講話時插話\n\n1、好奇對話內容\n\n孩子插話的原因大多都是因為好奇對方講話的內容、或是因為感受到被忽略，甚至是想到任何事物忍不住想要分享。\n\n2、事實鼓勵稱讚\n\n當孩子插嘴時，要讓孩子了解每個人發言時都要輪流，對話的應對規則。當孩子乖乖在旁時，要適時的給予稱讚、鼓勵，而且要避免冷落孩子。

DESCRIPTION:\n學校的課程通常教的都是一些理論，往往就少了實踐的機會。其實從小學就讓孩子們學習軟技能，雖然學校沒有這門課，但是不代表不重要喔! 專家研究，這項技能可以減少長大後的犯罪意圖，還能增加對難題的應變能力，溝通能力，社交和人脈交際能力以及自我控制能力呢!\n\n\n\n丫丫園地即將推出 Harmony Cotillion《春季兒童禮儀訓練班》，課程內容針對華裔家庭需要，涵蓋：生活禮儀、打招呼、書信禮儀、餐桌禮儀、交友禮儀等等，讓小朋友在遊戲中接觸和練習各種正規的生活禮儀，培養社交能力、自信心和高雅氣質，從小打造學業成績以外的重要「軟實力」。\n新課程將在 Arcadia Baldwin Stocker Elementary School 開課，請家長們密切留意即將推出的開班詳情！\n\n\n\n\n在童年學習【軟技能】可以更容易解決生活難題\nAcademic learning is usually in the spotlight at school\, but teaching elementary-age students "soft" skills like self-control and social skills might help in keeping at-risk kids out of criminal trouble in the future\, a study finds.\nDuke University researchers looked at a program called Fast Track\, which was started in the early 1990s for children who were identified by their teachers and parents to be at high risk for developing aggressive behavioral problems.\nThe students were randomized into two groups; half took part in the intervention\, which included a teacher-led curriculum\, parent training groups\, academic tutoring and lessons in self-control and social skills. The program\, which lasted from first grade through 10th grade\, reduced delinquency\, arrests and use of health and mental health services as the students aged through adolescence and young adulthood\, as researchers explained in a separate study published earlier this year.\nIn the latest study\, researchers looked at the "why" behind those earlier findings. In looking at the data from nearly 900 students\, researchers found that about a third of the impact on future crime outcomes was due to the social and self-regulation skills the students learned from ages 6 to 11.\nThe academic skills that were taught as part of Fast Track turned out to have less of an impact on crime and delinquency rates than soft skills\, which are associated with emotional intelligence. Soft skills might include teaching kids to work cooperatively in a group or teaching them how to think about the long-term consequences when they make a decision\, whereas teaching physics is an example of a hard skill.\n"The conclusion that we would make is that these [soft] skills should be emphasized even more in our education system and in our system of socializing children\," says Kenneth Dodge\, a professor of public policy and of psychology and neuroscience at Duke who was a principal investigator in this study as well as in the original Fast Track project. Parents should do all they can to promote these skills with their children\, Dodge says\, as should education policymakers.\n"To the extent we can improve those skills\, we can improve outcomes in delinquency and juvenile crime\," says Dodge\, who is also director of Duke's Center for Child and Family Policy. The study was published Wednesday in the journal Child Development.\nTo Neil Bernstein\, a psychologist in Washington\, D.C.\, who specializes in child and adolescent behavior disorders\, the researchers' findings seem consistent with what he's seen on the ground in working with children for more than 30 years. And while he says he agrees with the importance of teaching self-control and social skills\, he would add empathy to the list\, too.\n"Empathy is what makes us aware of the feelings of others and when you're empathic\, you're much less likely to hurt someone else's feelings\," says Bernstein\, who serves on the advisory board for the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids and is the author of multiple books\, including How to Keep Your Teenager Out of Trouble and What to Do If You Can't.\nBeing in tune with how someone else feels might also make adolescents steer clear of bullying and other "behaviors of concern\," Bernstein says.\nEmpathy was not one of the skills that were directly measured in this study\, according to Lucy Sorensen\, a Ph.D. student at Duke and lead author of the study. But there were several measures of "prosocial behavior\," Sorensen says\, defined as voluntary behavior intended to benefit others.\nWhile Bernstein thinks the study's findings are meaningful and could potentially serve as a model for schools\, he says that collectively getting a school system\, teachers\, parents and students all motivated enough to take part in an intervention like Fast Track is challenging.\nSeveral parts of the Fast Track study have been picked up successfully in other school settings\, Sorensen says\, such as a social-emotional learning curriculum called Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies\, or PATHS. Programs like Fast Track need buy-in from school systems\, teachers and parents\, she says\, and that can be a tough sell. But she adds that it's a strength of Fast Track that the students get support both at school and at home.\n"There's a growing and new understanding of what it takes to be successful as an adolescent and an adult\," Dodge says. "It used to be that what we thought all it took was academic skills. Reading and math are very important for tasks that require reading and math.
