Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.\nNice walk with great views of Puddingstone and San Gabriel Mountains. DESCRIPTION:成長在城市的小朋友，週末早已習慣了與興趣班及堵塞的汽車群相處？\n\n應該趁著明媚的春天與孩子們牽著手、出外走走，吸收新鮮空氣、學習不同的生活體驗。遠足健行是既是運動，又能讓孩子學習到一點一滴的生活體驗 . . . 一起來看看遠足對小朋友的好處吧～～\n\n\n1) Hard work will usually pay off  只要努力嘗試，多艱苦的工作也有機會得到回報\nStruggling along a trail for hours at a time can be exhausting and frustrating\, but many hikers get a rush of adrenaline from reaching their destination. Yes\, legs might be sore or tired and sweat might be dripping off your face\, but completing a goal is a great thing to accomplish. By hiking and reaching ever-expanding goals\, your kid will develop a better understanding of what hard work really is and how to push through barriers when times get hard.\n2) You have to leave your comfort level to get better at something 孩子，你要走出你舒適的生活圈\n\n\nSimilar to the first point\, being uncomfortable isn’t always a bad thing. By pushing your body a little harder to reach a new lake or peak\, you are developing healthy\, strong muscles. By developing these muscles at a young age\, you are more likely to be able to hike later in life without as much difficulty as someone who didn’t hike as a child. My muscle memory for hiking is better than most hikers my age\, thanks to my upbringing on the trails.\n\n\n\n\n3) Fresh air tastes better 吸收新鮮空氣是多美好的事\n\n\n\nThe best way to get your kids off their phones and away from the X-Box is to get them hooked on the sweet\, sweet O2. Oxygen is amazing\, but getting it from the source\, released from giant trees deep in the rainforest is life changing. Even on the top of a peak\, it just tastes better. Getting used to this will make you crave it more\, so being in clean places will be sought after.\n\n\n4) There are other ways to get high 遠足是另一種能讓人興奮快樂的活動\n\n\n\nAs lame as a slogan as this is\, it is spot on. While hikers do drink and some do drugs of one sort or another\, the vast majority of people who love nature less likely to let bad habits and addictions slow them down. Being healthy goes hand-in-hand with exploring nature. You can’t hike up awesome mountains with bad lungs or hung-over. Well\, you can\, but it isn’t as fun.\n\n\n\n\n\n5) Animals are beautiful 看看自然界動物的美\n\n\n\n\nExperiencing nature as a kid will give let them see some pretty awesome animals. On just the Olympic\n\nPeninsula you can see bear\, whales\, salmon\, eagles\, mountain goats\, bobcats\, mountain lions\, seals and more. Seeing them makes them real\, and things that we view as real we are more likely to want to protect.\n\n\n\n6) Water is important 「水」永遠是最重要的\n\n\n\n\nNever have I been more aware of water than while hiking. When you can only drink what you can carry (we can talk water purification later) one really develops an understanding of the importance of water. Water is always a way to fight dehydration\, so knowing how much you need to drink to feel good makes you appreciate what you have. By appreciating water\, we are more likely to protect the cleanliness of our rivers\, lakes and streams.\n\n\n\n7) We need to protect the environment 我們要努力保護環境\n\n\n\n\nSpending enough time in nature will make you want to protect it. Breathing clean air makes you want to fix dirty air in polluted cities. The time spent in nature may just encourage the next breakthrough in pollution reduction. Seeing rivers and lakes clean and undeveloped means they might grow up and want to keep saving the areas we take for granted. National Parks are not necessary forever\, so we need to get future generations fighting for their protection.\n\n\n\n\n\n8) Walking a few miles isn’t the end of the world\, in fact it is just the beginning 走長一點的路不是世界末日，是人生的開始\n\n\n\n\nGetting a child interested in hiking can be tough\, as the distance of walking can be past their comfort level. However\, once they are used to it\, children as young as 7 or 8 can easily hike over 10 miles a day. I know some of you don’t believe this\, but as someone who grew up this way I can assure you it is true. Learning that walking is not a pain in ass is a good lesson for everyone to learn. Rain or shine I now always have a parking spot; I just may have to walk a bit. I also walk to the store\, saving money on gas. Being ok with walking has opened a whole new world to me.\n\n\n\n9) Life is big and small\, but equally important 大自然的大小事都同樣重要，就像人生一樣\n\n\n\n\nIf you ask any hiker\, they all have a great appreciation for life. From the smallest ferns growing out of a carpet of moss to the trunks of trees that look to be the legs of giants\, life is everywhere in nature. Hiking shows us life is everywhere. Stumbling upon a nurse log in the Olympic National Park shows just that. With elk droppings growing plants\, to the fallen tree springing life from its remains\, life is large and small and everywhere. Hiking and experiencing nature lets children of all ages see the true circle of life. Nature teaches us that everything works together as one\, and removing one element could ruin everything. Kids introduced to hiking will be aware of how the ecosystem works\, and will more than likely grow up wanting to save it.\n\n\n\n10) There are better things in the world than video games and TV 讓孩子知道，這世上有很多事比打電動及玩遊戲機更重要\n\n\n\n\nI love watching TV and playing video games as much as the next person\, but only in moderation. Being stationary too long is horrible for your mental and physical health and allowing children to do this reassures them that this is an ok way to live. We are a nation of couch sitters. You might go to the gym\, but the majority of people watch TV or read while working out. Experiencing nature gives you better smells\, better sounds and better sights than any gym can. Turning off the TV and getting outside will make you healthier in the long run\, and chances are\, happier. AH!” The audience cheered and clapped as the Harlem Globetrotters began defeating the World All Stars by a landslide. Isabel and I both laughed at the team's silly antics and stared as they made impossible-looking dunks and tricks. The air was electric as the Globetrotters slammed the ball into the hoop. I was so happy to be there.\n\nBefore the game\, I didn’t know what to expect. Was is going to be interesting? Or a complete bore? When I walked into the Staples Center with Isabel\, there were many people rushing around\, to buy snacks\, or to buy a one-of-a-kind official Harlem Globetrotters basketball. I knew I was in for a treat. When we sat down in our seats\, we watched Globie\, the mascot perform some great moves\, and play a game of musical chairs\, though he won in a strange way. Then the lights dimmed and we listened to The Star Spangled Banner while we stood. Then the game started.\n\nIt seemed obvious from the start that the Globetrotters were probably going to win\, the most memorable players were probably TNT (The only female player) and Big Easy (A funny big guy). They performed funny skits and made amazing shots that I would not ever try at home. It was funny how the referee joined in on the comedic laughter that shook the stadium. The World All Stars were heading down-track until the 2nd half.\n\nThat’s when Cager came in. He towered over the whole Globetrotter team\, even Big Easy. I almost lost my hope that the Globetrotters would be triumphant. When the teams started to play again\, the World All Stars got their points quite quickly. Everyone in the stadium looked dumbfounded and defeated. But\, Big Easy and Cager made a bet. If the Globetrotters won\, then the All Stars would have to leave as soon as the game was over. But\, if the All Stars won then the Globetrotters would have to leave town and never come back. Both teams started to focus and played hard\, and happily…………...the Globetrotters won! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Isabel and I screamed with joy when they won\, and jumped up and down. This happiness was apparent in the whole entire stadium because everyone seemed just as happy as we were. The teams had very different reactions. The Globetrotters looked smug\, while the All Stars\, especially Cager\, had daggers in their eyes.\n\nI was so happy to be able to come and experience this game. I definitely recommend this to people of all ages\, from toddler to senior\, it’s a wonderful family experience!\n\n\n\n\nHarlem Globetrotters\nBy Isabel Lau\n\n\n\nThe Staples Center had the same feeling of excitement for another thrilling basketball game as we entered the building. Jaslyne and I were rushing alongside the crowd to take our seat. On February 19th\, two Junior Journalists were exploring the Staples Center for the entrance to our seating. We strode by the pleasant aroma of gametime snacks\, and shoppers\, rushing to pay for official Harlem Globetrotters ball.\n\nWe finally entered the room to hear the cheering crowd to the before game entertainment. We saw Globie\, the globetrotters' mascot bust some dope dance moves.\n\nThen\, after a spectacular National Anthem performance the faceoff of the Harlem Globetrotters and the World All-Stars began. Coach Sweet Lou Dunbar was in charge of the Harlem Globetrotters.\n\nThe game was unlike any typical basketball game. It included humor for all ages to enjoy\, insane stunts that you definitely shouldn't try\, and the audience's excitement and energy was exuberant. There was plenty of interaction with the audience\, from kids to elders. The game was extremely vigorous and sprightly.\n\nThere was a colossal amount of sliding around the court\, not to mention many hysterical calls on players. The referee of the the game was equally as comical as rhe rest of the players. There even came a time where one of the players was on top of the basket. As the result\, the Harlem Globetrotters brought home a victory.\n\nThe Harlem Globetrotters are currently on their 2017 world tour.
