The festival has hosted numerous international lifeguard teams including teams from Victoria\, Australia.\nThe International Surf Festival kick-off dinner is held on the Thursday prior to the start of the Lifeguard Intracrew competition on Friday night. Formerly called Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band\, Lucky Diaz and Alisha Gaddis have put out six acclaimed and award-winning records that offer a musical and topical range aimed at exploring all the wonder and joy of a young person's life. Spanish and English language hits earned them several awards\, including the 2013 Latin Grammy Award for Best Latin Children's Album for their album ¡Fantastico!. Diaz and Gaddis are also the creators and stars of the Emmy Award winning children's live-action TV show Lishy Lou and Lucky Too\, which aired on PBS' The Friday Zone.
