The Skirball is completely free for all visitors every Thursday! What’s the catch? No catch, but definitely a tip: advance tickets are highly recommended well in advance for all visitors who plan on visiting Noah’s Ark.

To ensure a safe and pleasant visitor experience, all Noah’s Ark ticketholders are assigned an entry time, permitting up to two hours in the Noah’s galleries. These tickets are quite popular, so if you’d like to visit Noah’s Ark, check in on Monday, as soon as Thursday reservations become available.

(All other galleries and exhibits are free every Thursday, and those don’t require advance reservations.)

【親子好去處】位於 Pasadena 的著名私人日式庭園 Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden 每周四及每月最後一個週日開放給公眾參觀遊覽。

This nearly two-acre private Japanese garden and traditional teahouse opens its doors to the public on a weekly basis. First constructed in the late 1930s and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005, the garden features two ponds, four bridges and a cascading waterfall, all centered around a Japanese tea house.

Created in Japan by landscape designer and craftsman Kinzuchi Fujii, the original tea house was shipped to philanthropists Charles and Ellamae Storrier Stearns’ backyard. It sat there until 1981 when it burned down; current owners Jim and Connie Haddad have since rebuilt and restored the tatami mat tea house according to original drawings, photographs and architectural plans.

Opening hours: Open Thursdays and the last Sunday of each month

Admission: $7.50 in advance, $10 cash or check at the gate; kids under 18 free

門票成人預售 $7.50，現場購票$10；18歲以下兒童免費

This dynamic, 15-minute show features a life-size adult Saber-toothed Cat puppet, a live performance and film projections that bring the distant past to life.

How the Cat Came to Life
=====================
More than 2,500 saber-toothed cats have been excavated from the La Brea Tar Pits and studied at the Page Museum. To bring the cat to life, NHM and Page staff collaborated with the innovators at Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, whose film and TV credits include the Muppets and Where the Wild Things Are. The Page Museum’s Chief Curator Dr. John M. Harris, Collections Manager Emeritus Chris Shaw, and Assistant Lab Supervisor Trevor Valle, as well as NHM Curator of Terrestrial Mammals Dr. Xiaoming Wang, consulted on the project.

Start time: 10:00am
Length: 2-1/2 hours

The Union Station tour covers architecture, art, culture, and social history as it celebrates one of the great landmarks of Los Angeles, the 1939 Union Station.

The grand opening of Union Station was celebrated with a three-day extravaganza attended by nearly half a million people. The station’s monumental architecture, a unique combination of Spanish Colonial Revival and Art Deco styles, assured that it would be one of the most identifiable landmarks in the city.

It also turned out to be the last great railway station built in America, constructed as it was near the end of the heyday of rail travel. The vast and extraordinary spaces now serve as station to the city’s Metro Rail lines, and once again tens of thousands of people course through the building every day.

In the mid-1990s, an intermodal transit center and 28-story office tower was added on the east side of Union Station. These additions draw on the 1939 station for inspiration, interpreting the vast spaces and southwestern colors in a new way, and incorporating the work of many different artists as part of the public spaces.

Walking difficulty: Route covers about one mile total walking; no stairs or inclines

Wheelchair accessible: Yes

Cost: $10 general public, $5 Conservancy members (up to 2 admissions at Individual level; up to 4 admissions at all other levels), $5 children 12 and under

Note: If the Register button does not appear next to a date above, the tour has sold out.
