If you were among the 45,000 fans who attempted to attend last year JPL Open House in October, you probably remember the traffic jam and overflow of crowd, which made the highly anticipated campus visit close to impossible for many eager families.
This year, JPL is trying to ease off the traffic pressure by employing a brand new measure — online ticket reservation.
JPL is announcing a new approach to that one special weekend a year when we open our doors to the public and put on display all the ways we are exploring the solar system and beyond.
It’s called “A Ticket to Explore JPL.” And to be a part of it, you MUST have a ticket. We’re trying this new approach because the enormous public response to our traditional “come one, come all” “Open House,” has been – well – overwhelming. We’re committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience, so we’re trying this experiment.
“A Ticket to Explore JPL” will take place the weekend of June 4th and 5th. Tickets are free but limited and they will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. The maximum number of tickets per family is five. And to enter JPL you must have your ticket in hand and with a matching ID if you are 18 or older. Tickets are not transferrable.
Tickets will be available as of April 25 at 9 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time on JPL’s Special Events web page where you can also find additional information.
